A letter from Dr. Planansky to all athletes:

The fifteen years prior to my chiropractic education were spent as either a player or coach on both the college and/or professional football levels.  I spent nearly two years with the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League, and three years following that coaching in Nebraska and Minnesota on the Division II level.  My qualifications stem from the experience gained on the collegiate and professional levels, and then refined in the healthcare field.

We are all part of the same race; the human race.  We all adhere to a certain set of physiological rules that must be met.  The criteria that must be met for the chronically ill, must be met for the elite, just at differing degrees.  If you continue to believe in exercise mythology that has no substantiated proof because that is how it has been done for the last fifteen years and a couple of teams had success with it, then accuse me of heresy; however, if you are courageous enough to abandon your current belief system in favor of the truth, read on.

I spent the better part of fifteen years of my life, prior to my career in healthcare, in the field of competitive athletics as either a coach or player.  I was the unfortunate recipient of numerous “flavor of the month” training fads that was to be the next great way of gaining optimal results.  I have ingested thousands upon thousands of protein shakes, power shakes, and “cutting edge” nutritional supplements guaranteed to provide the quickest recovery and unparalleled performance.  Now, after a couple of years of healthcare practice, a little bit of luck, and a enormous amount of hard work, I realize nearly all the strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation advice and practice provided to me was worthless.  In a majority of the cases it was even more harmful then helpful.  I now understand that a majority of my success in athletic endeavors was in spite of, not because of, my athletic training.  I would go so far as to say that as much as 95% of conditioning and training, all the way up to the professional ranks, is done in a manner that is inefficient and often more harmful than helpful.

There are procedures for objectively and accurately measuring the effectiveness of a workout regimen.  If you are not currently performing these quantifiable measurements, you are cheating, and in some cases harming, the body you are attempting to train. There is no single work out routine, or diet, or nutritional supplementation program that will work for every single athlete.  Each person has is governed by certain physiological laws that hold true to all, but at the same time there is a biological individuality to each and every person that is determined by genetics, current state of strength and conditioning, as well training schedule.  These objective procedures should, and can, be done with each and every athlete/weekend warrior.  It is a very effective and efficient way to assure that maximum gains are being made in all levels of training.   It is not a short cut; on the contrary, it is a way to confidently know what is transpiring is what is best for the athlete.

Couple what I know about training and nutrition with my ability to help the medical staff effectively treat each and every person, and I can unequivocally guarantee that the athletes will achieve as close to their individual genetic potential as possible.  Anybody else who makes these claims without implementing individual biological terrain analysis, individual assessment of each workout, and individual nutritional inquiries of each athlete, all the while following the basics of muscle physiology, is lying.  Optimal gains cannot be made when the metabolic variances and state of physical condition of each athlete isn't properly integrated into the every workout of each athlete.  It sounds complicated and time consuming, but it is not.  The greatest hurdle is to overcome the years of lies and false propaganda we have allowed to undermine our ability to think when it comes to strength and conditioning.  I plan to accentuate and help you develop you to the best of your potential.

I by no means take any credit for the development of this knowledge.  It has been around for years; just never utilized.  I have used the brilliance of a few people's thinking to implement treatment strategies, strength and condition programs, and nutritional protocols to greatly amplify a person's health.  From the chronically ill to the elite, benefits are made safely, efficiently, effectively, and consistently.  My ultimate goal is to utilize this knowledge I have picked up along my journey of learning to obtain a position that allows me to work with athletes and be around an atmosphere of competition.  If you have the courage and the patience to work with me, I will demonstrate the ease to which this can be incorporated.

I am certain I can make an immediate and positive impact on your health.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Josef M. Planansky, D.C.
