Lumbar spine arthritis

Arthritis causes tenderness, pain, swelling and stiffness in the spine when the normal fluid that lubricates the joint starts to decay. This type of arthritis typically occurs in women over the age of 50, older people with a high activity level and overweight individuals.

A very important part of treatment is exercising and stretching the muscles around the bone to strengthen the problem area. A physician directed rehabilitation and exercise program could be implemented with medication for excessive pain.
