Hip OsteoarthritisOsteoarthritis in general is the breaking down of a joint. In the joint, the cartilage is damaged and tries to repair itself, but because the bone is also remodeling, bone cysts are formed. Diabetes, obesity, thyroid problems and trauma are predispositions which might cause osteoarthritis, but osteoarthritis of the hip is generally an affliction that comes with age. Another group of affected individuals are athletes that cause a lot of wear and tear on their bodies.
