FibromyalgiaFibromyalgia is a widely disputed disorder that can be frustrating for the patient and the physician. It most commonly affects women, and is described as an overall body pain, usually accompanied by fatigue. The skin is very sensitive, even to soft touching, muscles ache, and sometimes spasm. Some pain can be associated with nerves and the individual has an overall weakness. The cause of fibromyalgia is still unknown Because it is important for the physician to distinguish fibromyalgia from other similar disorders, tests will have to be done. Given that there is no known cause for fibromyalgia, there is also no guaranteed cure. This means several treatments will have to be experimented with to see what works best for that individual patient. Treatments may include but are not limited to: physician directed aqua, physical and massage therapy, and medication.
